The Council for Human Capital Development in the Innovation and High-Tech Industry in Arab Society
Due to recent events in the country, various challenges have surged among organizations focused on advancing Arab society in high-tech, employment, skill development and innovation. These challenges are impacting the functioning and ongoing activities of these organizations, affecting their ability to provide essential services to the public amid the new crisis. Dealing with such challenges calls for fresh and innovative knowledge, skills, and operational methods. Organizations must promptly assess the evolving situation, identify new needs, and adapt their approach and financials to address the crisis in a timely and relevant manner, aligning with emerging requirements. Addressing this critical challenge underscores the necessity for philanthropic and stakeholder support for organizations involved in high-tech, employment, skill development and innovation. Understanding that it is necessary for organizations to sustain their work and performance during emergencies, we have committed to taking action in line with the current demands, demonstrating our faith in and support of this mission.
Introduction
The advancement of Arab society in the fields of innovation and high-tech in Israel is a central driver of economic and social growth. In recent years, the percentage of employed members of Arab society in these sectors has increased, and positive processes in the fields of diversity, inclusion, and employment have been launched in various industries. Today, human capital is a focal point for state and philanthropic investments, which seek to support innovative interventions and models that can expedite and broaden the integration of Arab society into the innovation and high-tech industry.
The Challenge
Recent efforts, including state-led, of channeling resources and investments to infrastructure organizations leading the field in Israel, have identified several major challenges. These include obstacles to forging cross-sectoral and organizational collaborations, a lack of coordination among ecosystem stakeholders, especially between the social organizations themselves, as well as challenges related to infrastructure, evaluation and measurement, and human capital in the organizations.
These challenges underscore the need for establishing a framework enabling organizations to devise solutions to their specific challenges, including building training and recruitment capacities, identifying and generating diverse collaborations, cultivating excellence tracks in management, business development, enhancing measurement and evaluation capabilities, alongside impact management. The overarching goals in this context is to foster and support organizational growth and development around existing and sustainable impact actions.
The Council
In response to this need, The Council for Human Capital Development in the High-Tech and Innovation Industry in Arab Society will lay the infrastructure for promoting the response at four key levels:
- Impact management (measurement and evaluation)
- Optimal organizational management and human capital development
- Development of sustainable models for organizations (business development)
- Building and implementing partnerships
This will be achieved by guidance for managers in their professional journey and providing access to consultants who will support the organizations in the aforementioned four core areas, alongside influencing policy.
Target Audience
The Council will target senior leadership across sectors dedicated to advancing Arab society in the high-tech industry. This includes CEOs and vice presidents, with a particular focus on civil society organizations and the business sector. At the individual level, the Council will seek the formation of a group of managers characterized by an entrepreneurial spirit, the ability to influence the organization and the sector, and openness to mutual learning and personal development, to spearhead transformative change within the space.
Council Objectives
- Strengthening the human capital infrastructures in core areas of the high-tech industry, thereby supporting the growth of infrastructure organizations.
- Promoting strategic collaborations in the space of the challenge.
- Creating a comprehensive, evolving, and interconnected ecosystem dedicated to the advancement of Arab society.
- Building the infrastructure to promote policies and lead processes in the field.
Council Framework
- Supporting the managers selected to the council through a personalized group process to create a peer group that cultivates trust among its members, and with the professional space and stakeholders. This will be facilitated through bi-monthly learning and consultation sessions. Commitment to 6 meetings per year 2024.
- Accompanying the organizations selected for the council through consulting processes tailored to address the four core areas.
Organizational Requirements & Conditions
- Core activity: The promotion of high-tech, entrepreneurship and/or innovation in Arab society, with wide impact.
- Engagement in social intervention, offering unique product and/or service.
- A management team, CEO/VP, that embodies an entrepreneurial spirit.
- A team of five or more employees.
- The capacity to commit 10-12 hours every two months to activity in working groups, council meetings, or policy sessions.
- An openness to learning, information sharing, and collaboration.
